On holistilink.com, I share how discovering mindfulness has saved my mental health. I share mindfulness tools that took me from being a depressed mother who could not stand being in the presence of people to being an advocate for people who suffer mental health. I share my experiences and journey to recovery with my communities to empower them to rise above life challenges and to depend on their inner strength to overcome hurdles. Surviving The Near ‘crazy’ Experience
The day that I decided to move from my home town to the city was the best decision I ever made for me. I moved in the middle of the night and the next morning I was in a councelling session with my psychiatrist. After months and months of heavy medication and weekly counselling sessions, I came across a book on mental health. After reading that book and following on tasks assigned, I never looked back.
I began working on myself until I got to a point where I quit medication. Not because I was compeletely off of depression and anxieties but because I had found a natural way of awakening the giant within me to determine how my days go. Is it a struggle sometimes? Definately. But my will power is much stronger than the power outside. Decision making. Decision making. Decision making. I make a decision everyday to take time for me, for betterment of my soul and I will never exchange that for anything.
And my daughters, they are happier than ever. Before, I couldn’t give them what I didn’t have and that was me. Now, I have me and I’m able to give them a true, happy me. What a journey it has been!
